May 6, 2019

Two months left of the Canada Halifax Mission--as we know it.  Not much happened this last week except for regular office duties.  Wednesday night Sister Low and I went to Ukulele Club.  It is a group of ladies that meet every Wednesday night in the Dartmouth Church to play and practice. Once a month they perform in a nursing home so much of the practice is to prepare for that.  Any one can join.  Many of them are members of the Church but not all.  All ages are welcome.  It really is a lot of fun.  We haven't been able to go many times because of Mission conflicts and I really only know a couple of chords but I want to keep learning.
Thursday was Mission Leadership Council, or MLC, for all the Zone Leaders and STLs, or Sister Leader Trainers, so we were at the Church most of the day instead of at the office.  It is so amazing watching these young people lead and teach other.  I am in awe of them all.

May 2nd MLC in Dartmouth

Friday night we went to dinner with the Lows.  We went to a little place called John's Lunch and it has arguably the best fish and chips in town.  We had been there before but this was the first time for the Lows.  John's Lunch is in an older home in downtown Dartmouth.  It is a small tiny place but has amazing food.  This time I tried the Haddock tips and chips and they were very good.  After dinner we went to a display of hooked art which is a craft that we see a lot of here in Nova Scotia.  On one of our first trips together Sister Low took us to a shop in Amherst that sold rug hooking supplies.  I bought a kit there of a light house scene.  It took me awhile to have time to work on it but once I started I didn't want to quit.  So we went to look at this display and it was very impressive.  I should have taken some pictures, but I didn't.  These pieces of art were very detailed and amazing.

We are hopeful that spring is still coming.  Today was the best day we have had all year but it was probably still only in the 50s.  The sun was shining though.  Cary is really antsy to get out and explore but lately all the weekend days have been stormy.  This last Saturday it was great and cloudy again.  I had a hair appointment and while I was there Cary went grocery shopping.  We spent the rest of the day crocheting and knitting and watching Netflix. My leg is still very sore and I am still on crutches and really hope that it can start getting better so that we start doing things outside.

Yesterday, on Sunday, there was a coordinating council in the office and President Low asked us to provide a small lunch.  They have these meetings once a quarter with Elder Allard --the Area Authority from Quebec, the two Stake Presidents in the Mission, President Veinot, the Temple President, and President Low.  Cary made some chicken tortellini soup and we served that with cut up veggies, watermelon, and berry pie.  I went to my Sacrament Meeting in Halifax but Cary stayed for the meeting because he is the executive secretary to President Low.  It was Elder Allard's last time meeting with these men because he is being released in August.

This week is the beginning of transfer week so things will be busy.  Only one more transfer until we leave for Montreal.  Until next time.
