May 19, 2019

Wow!!  Another week has gone by.  It was kind of a quiet week in the office after transfer week.  I spent most of my time getting travel booked for Zone Conference in a couple of weeks when Elder Hamilton comes to preside at the Dartmouth Stake Conference and then tour the Mission.  He doesn't have time to go to Newfoundland so we are flying everyone over to Halifax to come to the Nova Scotia Zone Conference.  I look forward to  having Elder Hamilton's visit because we always learn so much and get
motivated to keep working hard in these Zone Conferences.
Wednesday evening I went with Sister Low to practice with the Ukulele Ladies.  It was lot's of fun.  We are supposed to play a couple of songs this week during our Senior Conference so we need lots of practice.

Sister Low and 2 of our missionaries-Sister Keller and Sister Long after Ukulele Club.

Friday I had an appointment with an Orthopedic Doctor in the Dartmouth Hospital Clinic.  She looked at my Xrays and said the same thing as the ER doctor the week before.  She said that if it had been diagnosed as a break when I first went to the doctor they would have performed surgery, put in a plate and it would be healed by now.  If we did the surgery now after 7 or 8 weeks of healing, she would have to clean out the part that was healing and we would have to start all over again.  She said to wear the boot and try to keep as much weight off it as possible for the next 6 weeks. I am glad that it is not any worse than it is, but it means that I won't be able to do much as far as outside adventures and walks before we have to move. I think Elder Boyle is getting frustrated with me and my injuries.
On Mothers Day-a week ago- we fed the Halifax STLs and had them come over to our apartment to use the WIFI to call their Moms. Elder Boyle fixed a really good dinner of Roast and mashed potatoes. And I got a really nice surprise delivery on the Friday
before Mothers Day while I was in the ER--a beautiful bouquet of flowers from all my kids.

My beautiful Mothers Day flowers from my kids.

My Mom loved this jacket that she bought many years ago when she went on a cruise with friends to the Northeastern States and to Canada.  She didn't have much opportunity to wear it because she lives in a hot climate.  She wanted me to bring it to the Mission with me so she could be a part of this experience.  This week is the first week that I have been able to wear it.  So this is for you Mom!!

Two more of our beautiful missionaries--Sister Rhodes and Sister Clark.  They are currently serving in Newfoundland.

Elder Hillyer and Elder Marsh, and Elder Holman (our newest AP and his family is from Sugar City and Idaho Falls) came into the office to chat with Elder Boyle before taking Elder Hillyer to the airport to transfer to Newfoundland

One year ago, on May 19th we entered the MTC in Provo.  I know I've said it before, but this year has really gone fast.  Some memories of those two weeks are:

We made a quick trip back to Vancouver to bear our testimonies in our Vancouver Ward and to get set apart by our Stake President, President Picket.  Rick and Cathy drove down from Marysville, Washington to be with us as well as Daniel Dunford who was living in Portland while he was getting his Masters.

We saw Chase and Shyla and Makenna and Brexley one more time.  They lived in Portland while Chase went to Chiropractic School.  He has since graduated and now they are in Omaha.

Leaving Ashley and Jonny's house on Monday, May 19, 2018 to go to the MTC.

Outside the MTC

We are going to Halifax Canada!

We got divided into districts and we attended training classes together.  This was our morning class while we studied Preach My Gospel the first week in the MTC.  The Tingeys were called to be an office couple in the new Layton, Utah Mission and the other two couples were called to serve humanitarian missions.

We loved these classes!

Our afternoon teacher with the same class.

This couple were our "others".  We taught each other lessons from  Preach My Gospel.  They were on their way to the PCC in Hawaii to take care of the gardens there.

We could see the Provo Temple from the parking lot in the MTC.  That is where our journey began together over 40 years ago.  At that time the MTC wasn't even built but we had no idea that all these years later we would be here getting ready to go out into the mission field.  It has been a great adventure.

We were also able to do some family things while we were in the MTC for 2 weeks.

We got to go to McKennah's Dance Recital1

Jordan River Temple Open House with Jordan and Joseph
Tennley's Dance Recital
My Sister Rita happened to be in Utah visiting her in-laws so we spent a couple of hours together.
Randy and Lisa came up to see us the night before we went into the MTC.  We all went out together for pizza.

Randy and Lisa and Charley

Grandpa and Tucker and Baxter got to spend some time together reading and watching videos. The next day the road trip began.
